             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill requires the Transportation Interim Committee to study public transit
             10      ridership, air quality, and transit fare policies.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    requires the Transportation Interim Committee to study public transit ridership, air
             14      quality, and transit fare policies during the 2008 interim.
             15      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
             16          None

             22      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             23          Section 1. Study on public transit.
             24          (1) During the 2008 interim, the Transportation Interim Committee shall study public
             25      transit ridership, air quality, and transit fare policies.


             26          (2) The study required by Subsection (1) shall include a review of:
             27          (a) current public transit ridership numbers;
             28          (b) policies and strategies to improve public transit ridership throughout the state;
             29          (c) policies and strategies to improve the impact of public transit on air quality; and
             30          (d) the costs and benefits of reducing or eliminating public transit fares on:
             31          (i) yellow air quality action days; and
             32          (ii) red air quality alert days.
