             8      LONG TITLE
             9      General Description:
             10          This resolution provides that Joint Rule 6-2-101. Ethics Committees -- Membership --
             11      Jurisdiction, allow the Senate Ethics Committees to be established by Senate rules.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This resolution:
             14          .    allows the Senate to establish the membership of ethics committees by Senate rules.

             21      Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             22          Section 1. JR6-2-101 is amended to read:
             23           JR6-2-101. Ethics Committees -- Membership -- Jurisdiction.
             24          (1) There is established a Senate Ethics Committee and a House Ethics Committee.
             25          (2) [The] Unless otherwise provided by Senate Rule, the Senate Ethics Committee
             26      shall be composed of:
             27          (a) the chair and three additional members appointed by the President of the Senate;


             28      and
             29          (b) the cochair and three additional members appointed by the Senate minority leader.
             30          (3) The House Ethics Committee shall be composed of:
             31          (a) the chair and three additional members appointed by the Speaker of the House of
             32      Representatives; and
             33          (b) the cochair and three additional members appointed by the House minority leader.
             34          (4) Members of the committees shall serve two year terms.
             35          (5) If a complaint is filed against any member of the respective ethics committees, the
             36      President of the Senate or the Speaker of the House shall appoint another member of the Senate
             37      or House to serve in that member's place while the complaint is under review.
