             9          The Judiciary, Law Enforcement, and Criminal Justice Interim Committee
             10      recommended this bill.
             11      General Description:
             12          This bill modifies provisions relating to constables.
             13      Highlighted Provisions:
             14          This bill:
             15          .    allows a county or municipality to contract with any constable, rather than a
             16      constable in the county where the justice court sits; and
             17          .    makes a technical change.

             23      AMENDS:
             24          17-25-5, as renumbered and amended by Laws of Utah 2001, Chapter 46

             26      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             27          Section 1. Section 17-25-5 is amended to read:


             28           17-25-5. Contracts for constable services.
             29          The [governing] legislative body of any municipality or county where a justice court
             30      exists may contract with any [one or more of the constables appointed in the county where the
             31      court sits] constable to provide services in criminal cases for the contracting governmental
             32      entity by any method and for any amount mutually agreed upon.
