             8      General Description:
             9          This bill eliminates a provision requiring the state engineer to post a bond before taking
             10      office.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    eliminates a provision requiring the state engineer to post a bond before taking
             14      office; and
             15          .    makes technical changes.
             16      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:

             22          73-2-2, as last amended by Laws of Utah 1984, Chapter 67

             24      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             25          Section 1. Section 73-2-2 is amended to read:
             26           73-2-2. Oath.
             27          (1) Before entering upon the duties of [his] the office, the state engineer shall take and


             28      subscribe the constitutional oath of office. [He]
             29          (2) The state engineer shall file the oath with the Division of Archives [and his official
             30      bond with the state treasurer in the penal sum of $5,000, with not less than two sureties, to be
             31      approved by the Division of Finance, conditioned for the faithful discharge of the duties of his
             32      office and for the delivery to his successor, or other officer appointed by the governor to
             33      receive the same, of all moneys, books and other property belonging to the state then in his
             34      hands or under his control, or with which he may be legally chargeable as such officer].
