             8      General Description:
             9          This bill amends a provision related to lobbyist restrictions of former state officials.
             10      Highlighted Provisions:
             11          This bill:
             12          .    removes exceptions to a provision that restricts a former state official from
             13      becoming a lobbyist for one year after leaving office.
             14      Monies Appropriated in this Bill:

             20          67-24-103, as enacted by Laws of Utah 2009, Chapter 360

             22      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             23          Section 1. Section 67-24-103 is amended to read:
             24           67-24-103. Qualified prohibitions on lobbyists -- Time limit.
             25          [(1) Except as provided in Subsection (2), a] A former state official serving on or after
             26      [May 12, 2009] May 11, 2010, may not become a lobbyist or engage in lobbying that would
             27      require registration as a lobbyist under Title 36, Chapter 11, Lobbyist Disclosure and


             28      Regulation Act, for one calendar year, beginning on the day the state official leaves office and
             29      ending on the one-year anniversary of that day.
             30          [(2) This section does not apply if the former state official engages in lobbying on
             31      behalf of:]
             32          [(a) himself; or]
             33          [(b) a business with which he is associated, unless the primary activity of the business
             34      is lobbying or governmental relations.]
