8 General Description:
9 This bill addresses electrical service connection provisions.
10 Highlighted Provisions:
11 This bill:
12 . requires the Public Service Commission, when determining provisions for electrical
13 service connections by an electrical corporation, to use the current state adopted
14 National Electrical Code provisions;
15 . allows the use of alternative provisions if the commission determines they are just
16 and reasonable; and
17 . makes technical corrections.

26 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
27 Section 1. Section 54-4-7 is amended to read:
28 54-4-7. Rules, equipment, service -- Regulation after hearing.
29 (1) Whenever the commission [
30 regulations, practices, equipment, appliances, facilities, or service of any public utility, or the
31 methods of manufacture, distribution, transmission, storage or supply employed by it, are
32 unjust, unreasonable, unsafe, improper, inadequate or insufficient, the commission shall
33 determine the just, reasonable, safe, proper, adequate or sufficient rules, regulations, practices,
34 equipment, appliances, facilities, service or methods to be observed, furnished, constructed,
35 enforced or employed, and shall fix the same by its order, rule or regulation.
36 (2) The commission, after a hearing, shall prescribe rules and regulations for the
37 performance of any service or the furnishing of any commodity of the character furnished or
38 supplied by any public utility, and on proper demand and tender of rates [
39 utility shall furnish [
40 the conditions provided in [
41 (3) The commission, after a hearing, in considering electrical corporation connection
42 provisions, shall:
43 (a) use the state adopted National Electrical Code provisions for public and private
44 premises, including buildings, structures, mobile homes, and floating buildings, unless the
45 commission determines that an alternative provision is just and reasonable; and
46 (b) by order, rule, or regulation, or in approving tariffs, determine the provisions to be
47 used by an electrical corporation when making electrical service connections.
