9 General Description:
10 This bill modifies a provision relating to the duties of the Utah Constitutional Revision
11 Commission.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This bill:
14 . modifies a prohibition against the Utah Constitutional Revision Commission
15 making a recommendation on a proposed constitutional amendment after final
16 legislative action so that the commission may make a recommendation if requested
17 by the governor, the president of the Senate, or the speaker of the House of
18 Representatives.

27 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
28 Section 1. Section 63I-3-203 is amended to read:
29 63I-3-203. Duties.
30 (1) Subject to Subsection (2), the Utah Constitutional Revision Commission shall:
31 (a) conduct a comprehensive examination of the Utah Constitution, as amended, and
32 make recommendations to the governor and the Legislature as to specific proposed
33 constitutional amendments to implement the commission's recommendations for changes in the
34 constitution; and
35 (b) upon request of the governor, president of the Senate, speaker of the House of
36 Representatives, minority leader of the Senate, minority leader of the House, or the legislative
37 sponsor of a resolution to amend the Utah Constitution, advise the governor and the Legislature
38 on any proposed constitutional amendment or revision.
39 (2) The commission may not make a recommendation on a proposed constitutional
40 amendment after both houses of the Legislature have taken final action on it, unless requested
41 to do so by the governor, the president of the Senate, or the speaker of the House of
42 Representatives.
43 (3) The commission shall select a chair and a vice chair from among its members.
