             8      LONG TITLE
             9      General Description:
             10          This bill amends the Medical Assistance Act to provide that the director of the Division
             11      of Health Care Financing shall be appointed by the governor, after consultation with the
             12      executive director of the Department of Health, with the advice and consent of the
             13      Senate.
             14      Highlighted Provisions:
             15          This bill:
             16          .    provides that the director of the Division of Health Care Financing shall be
             17      appointed by the governor, after consultation with the executive director of the
             18      Department of Health, with the advice and consent of the Senate; and
             19          .    makes technical changes.
             20      Money Appropriated in this Bill:

             28      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             29          Section 1. Section 26-18-2.2 is amended to read:


             30           26-18-2.2. Director -- Appointment -- Responsibilities.
             31          The director of the division shall be appointed by the [executive director of the
             32      department] governor, after consultation with the executive director, with the advice and
             33      consent of the Senate. The director of the division may employ other employees as necessary
             34      to implement the provisions of this chapter, and shall:
             35          (1) administer the responsibilities of the division as set forth in this chapter;
             36          (2) prepare and administer the division's budget; and
             37          (3) establish and maintain a state plan for the Medicaid program in compliance with
             38      federal law and regulations.
