8 General Description:
9 This bill designates the month of April as Clean Out the Medicine Cabinet Month in
10 Utah.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . designates that the month of April shall be commemorated annually as Clean Out
14 the Medicine Cabinet Month in Utah.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 63G-1-401 is amended to read:
25 63G-1-401. Commemorative periods.
26 (1) The following days shall be commemorated yearly:
27 (a) Bill of Rights Day, on December 15;
28 (b) Constitution Day, on September 17;
29 (c) Yellow Ribbon Day, on the third Monday in May, in honor of men and women who
30 are serving or have served in the U.S. armed forces around the world in defense of freedom;
31 (d) POW/MIA Recognition Day, on the third Friday in September; and
32 (e) Indigenous People Day, the Monday immediately preceding Thanksgiving.
33 (2) The Department of Veterans' Affairs shall coordinate activities, special programs,
34 and promotional information to heighten public awareness and involvement relating to
35 Subsections (1)(c) and (d).
36 (3) The month of November shall be commemorated yearly as American Indian
37 Heritage Month.
38 (4) The month of April shall be commemorated yearly as Clean Out the Medicine
39 Cabinet Month to recognize the urgent need to make Utah homes and neighborhoods safe from
40 prescription medication abuse and poisonings by the proper home storage and disposal of
41 prescription and over-the-counter medications, and to educate citizens about the permanent
42 medication disposal sites in Utah listed on useonlyasdirected.org that allow disposal throughout
43 the year.
