8 General Description:
9 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor designates May 6, 2011,
10 as Sugar House Rotary Club Day.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This resolution:
13 . designates May 6, 2011, as Sugar House Rotary Club Day in the state of Utah.
14 Special Clauses:

17 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
18 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club was chartered in 1936 and has consistently
19 provided a venue for community service for business and professional people in the Sugar
20 House community;
21 S. [ WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club was the second Club established in Utah; ] .S
22 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has been known as the Sweetest Club in all
23 of Rotary;
24 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has been host to many Rotarians from
25 throughout the world;
26 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has addressed the needs in the community
27 by providing local service, literacy programs, youth programs, and international projects;

- 2 - 28 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has raised over $4,000,000 for local
29 charities since 1992 through the Utah Chili Open Dinner and Golf Event;
30 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has financially supported Rotary
31 International projects including polio eradication, clean water projects, literacy programs, and
32 medical support projects throughout the world;
33 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club has distributed over 3,000 English
34 dictionaries annually to third grade students in Utah and 350 dictionaries to students in Latin
35 America;
36 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club sponsored the Salt Lake Community
37 Rotaract Club and the Taylorsville Interact Club to promote and foster "Service Above Self" as
38 a priority for youth in our community; and
39 WHEREAS, the Sugar House Rotary Club recognizes May 6, 2011, as Sugar House
40 Rotary Club Day:
41 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
42 Governor concurring therein, designate May 6, 2011, as Sugar House Rotary Club Day in the
43 state of Utah.
44 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Sugar
45 House Rotary Club.
