             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill directs the State Board of Education to determine how to modify or eliminate
             10      reporting requirements to reduce the time school district and charter school personnel
             11      spend in completing reports.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This bill:
             14          .    directs the State Board of Education, in consultation with representatives of school
             15      districts and charter schools, to determine how to modify or eliminate reporting
             16      requirements;
             17          .    requires the State Board of Education to report to the Education Interim Committee
             18      on:
             19              .    actions taken by the State Board of Education to modify or eliminate reporting
             20      requirements; and
             21              .    recommendations for the modification or elimination of reporting requirements
             22      imposed by state statute; and
             23          .    repeals provisions on reducing reporting requirements.

             34      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             35          Section 1. Section 53A-1-410 is enacted to read:
             36          53A-1-410. State Board of Education to determine how to reduce reporting
             37      requirements.
             38          (1) The State Board of Education, in consultation with representatives of school
             39      districts and charter schools, shall determine how reporting requirements may be modified or
             40      eliminated to reduce the time school district and charter school personnel spend in completing
             41      reports.
             42          (2) The State Board of Education shall:
             43          (a) seek to eliminate redundancy in reporting information; and
             44          (b) consider eliminating a report that has low value compared to the time and effort
             45      spent to produce the report.
             46          (3) The State Board of Education shall make a report to the Education Interim
             47      Committee by the committee's October 2012 meeting on:
             48          (a) actions taken by the State Board of Education to modify or eliminate reporting
             49      requirements; and
             50          (b) recommendations for the elimination or modification of reporting requirements
             51      imposed by state statute.
             52          Section 2. Section 63I-2-253 is amended to read:
             53           63I-2-253. Repeal dates -- Titles 53, 53A, and 53B.
             54          (1) Section 53A-1-403.5 is repealed July 1, 2012.
             55          (2) Section 53A-1-410 is repealed July 1, 2013.
             56          [(2)] (3) Subsection 53A-1-603 (5) is repealed July 1, 2015.
             57          [(3)] (4) Title 53A, Chapter 1a, Part 10, UPSTART, is repealed July 1, 2014.
             58          [(4)] (5) Subsection 53A-13-110 (4) is repealed July 1, 2013.


             59          [(5)] (6) Section 53A-15-1215 is repealed July 1, 2012.
