             8      LONG TITLE
             9      General Description:
             10          This bill amends provisions related to the career and technical education of public
             11      school students.
             12      Highlighted Provisions:
             13          This bill:
             14          .    allows a secondary student, or the secondary student's parent or guardian, to
             15      determine whether the secondary student's technical education goals would be better
             16      achieved at a regional applied technology college for purposes of allowing the
             17      secondary student to attend that institution.
             18      Money Appropriated in this Bill:
             19          None
             20      Other Special Clauses:
             21          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2012.
             22      Utah Code Sections Affected:
             23      AMENDS:
             24          53A-17a-114, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2011, Chapter 7

             26      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             27          Section 1. Section 53A-17a-114 is amended to read:


             28           53A-17a-114. Career and technical education program alternatives.
             29          If a [school district] secondary student, or the secondary student's parent or guardian,
             30      determines that [a] the secondary student's career and technical education goals are better
             31      achieved at a regional applied technology college created under Title 53B, Chapter 2a, Utah
             32      College of Applied Technology, the student may attend that institution.
             33          Section 2. Effective date.
             34          This bill takes effect on July 1, 2012.
