             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies Title 58, Chapter 69, Dentist and Dental Hygienist Practice Act, by
             10      amending exemptions for licensure.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    permits an individual to practice dentistry without a Utah license under certain
             14      circumstances; and
             15          .    makes technical changes.
             16      Money Appropriated in this Bill:

             22          58-69-306, as last amended by Laws of Utah 2000, Chapter 85

             24      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             25          Section 1. Section 58-69-306 is amended to read:
             26           58-69-306. Exemptions from licensure.
             27          In addition to the exemptions from licensure in Section 58-1-307 :
             28          (1) [a person] an individual performing mechanical work on inert matter in a laboratory
             29      pursuant to a written prescription from a licensed dentist may engage in acts and practices


             30      included in the practice of dentistry or dental hygiene without being licensed under this
             31      chapter; and
             32          (2) [a person] an individual licensed in good standing as a dentist in another state, with
             33      no licensing action pending and no less than [10] two years of professional experience, may
             34      engage in the practice of dentistry without being licensed under this chapter if:
             35          (a) the services are rendered as a public service and for a noncommercial purpose;
             36          (b) no fee or other consideration of value is charged, received, expected, or
             37      contemplated for the services rendered beyond an amount necessary to cover the proportionate
             38      cost of malpractice insurance; and
             39          (c) the individual does not otherwise engage in unlawful or unprofessional conduct.
