8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor recognizes the 125th
11 Anniversary of the Salvation Army of Utah.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 . recognizes the Salvation Army of Utah, on its 125th Anniversary, and commends
15 the organization for its good works and service over the past 125 years.

19 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
20 WHEREAS, since 1880, the Salvation Army in the United States of America has
21 continued to help those in need;
22 WHEREAS, since 1887, the Salvation Army has shown concern for the well being of
23 the poorest members of society in a variety of ways, including food assistance programs, drug
24 and alcohol abuse support groups, holiday assistance, and disaster relief;
25 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army provides services and assistance to more than 20
26 million people every year;
27 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army has provided more than 120 years of service in

28 northern Utah alone;
29 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army provides services in Utah, including providing:
30 Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous after care programs, food and personal and
31 household goods to families in economic crisis, and spiritual and personal counseling;
32 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army strives to benefit Utah's children through its record of
33 holding summer youth camps for more than 100 years;
34 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army stands ready to assist Utahns in times of natural
35 disaster or other such emergencies;
36 WHEREAS, thousands of Utahns donate resources to support the ongoing operations of
37 the Salvation Army; and
38 WHEREAS, the Salvation Army remains true to its original, holistic mission of
39 "meeting human needs in His name without discrimination":
40 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
41 Governor concurring therein, recognize the Salvation Army of Utah, on its 125th Anniversary,
42 and commends the organization for its good works and service over the past 125 years.
43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Salvation
44 Army National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and to the Salvation Army of Utah.
