Chair Valentine called the meeting to order at 4:06 p.m.

Approval of Minutes

MOTION:    
Sen. Van Tassell moved to approve minutes of the February 13, 2012 meeting.     The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Davis and Bramble absent for the vote.

S.B. 256    Unincorporated Business Entities Act Amendments (Sen. L. Hillyard)

Sen. Hillyard introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION: Sen. Weiler moved to adopt the following amendments:

1.    Page 3, Line 83 through Page 4, Line 94 :    

             83          (4) With respect to a limited partnership that elects pursuant to Subsection (1)(b) to be
             84      subject to this chapter, after the election takes effect the provisions of this chapter relating to
             85      the liability of the limited partnership's general partners to third parties apply:
             86          (a) before
{   July 1, [2012] 2013   }        January 1, 2015       , to:

             87          (i) a third party that had not done business with the limited partnership in the year
             88      before the election took effect; and
             89          (ii) a third party that had done business with the limited partnership in the year before
             90      the election took effect only if the third party knows or has received a notification of the


             91      election; and
             92          (b) on and after
{   July 1, [2012] 2013   }        January 1, 2015       , to all third parties, but those provisions remain

             93      inapplicable to any obligation incurred while those provisions were inapplicable under
             94      Subsection (4)(a)(ii).
The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.

MOTION: Sen. Van Tassell moved to transmit S.B. 256 with a favorable recommendation.         The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.

MOTION: Sen. Van Tassell moved to place S.B. 256 on the Consent Calendar. The motion         passed unanimously with Sen. Bramble absent for the vote.

1st Sub. H.B. 61 Portable Electronics Insurance Related Amendments (T. Kiser)

Rep. Kiser introduced and explained the bill and answered questions from the committee.

MOTION: Sen. Davis moved to transmit 1st Sub. H. B. 61 with a favorable recommendation.         The motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 114    Massage Therapy Act Amendments (Rep. T. Cosgrove)

Rep. Cosgrove introduced and explained the bill.

H.B. 295    Trademark Renewal Revisions (Rep. B. King)

Rep. King introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to transmit H.B. 295 with a favorable recommendation. The         motion passed unanimously.




MOTION: Sen. Bramble moved to place H.B. 295 on the Consent Calendar. The motion         passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Bramble moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Chair Valentine adjourned the meeting at 4:36 p.m.
