Chair Osmond called the meeting to order at 2:20 pm.

Approval of Minutes

MOTION:    Sen. Thatcher moved to approve the minutes of the Feb 2, 2012 and Feb 6, 2012 meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard, Sen. Niederhauser, Sen. Stephenson, and Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.

S.B. 44    GI Bill Tuition Gap Coverage (L. Robles)

MOTION:     Sen. Thatcher moved to replace S.B. 44 with 1st Sub. S.B. 44. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard, Sen. Niederhauser, Sen. Stephenson, and Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote

1st Sub. S.B.     GI Bill Tuition Gap Coverage (L. Robles)

Sen. Robles introduced and explained the substitute bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Morgan moved to pass the substitute bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.

H.B. 62    Provisions Regarding School Supplies (K. Powell)


Rep. Powell introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION: Sen. Thatcher moved to amend the bill as follows:

Review of the Electronic High School

Ms. Brenda Hales, Associate Superintendent, Utah State Office of Education, gave an o verview of the Electronic High School (EHS), including its course offerings, demographics, utilization, enrollment, completion rates, and potential impacts to the EHS with the implementation of the new Statewide Online Education Program.
