Sen. Dayton assumed the chair and called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.


S.R. 1        Informal Senate Poll on United States Senate Candidates Resolution
        (Sen. C. Anderson)


Sen. Anderson presented and explained the bill.

MOTION:    Sen. Anderson moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed, with Sen. Jenkins and Sen. Thatcher absent for the vote.


S.B. 114    Contesting Public Procurements (Sen. W. Niederhauser)


MOTION:    Sen. Robles moved to replace S.B. 114 with 1st Sub. S.B. 114. The motion passed unanimously.

Sen. Niederhauser presented and explained the bill.

Spoke to the bill:    Kent Beers, Director of State Purchasing and General Services

MOTION:    Sen. Jenkins moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


1st Sub H.B. 253    Voter Registration Amendments (Rep. K. Powell)

MOTION:
    Sen. Thatcher moved to adopt the following amendments to the bill:


1.    Page 2, Line 50 :    

             50          (b) The county clerk shall mail the form described in Subsection (3)
{   (b)   }        (a)       with a postal


2.    Page 3, Line 65 :    

             65          (iii)
  (A)       received no response from the voter[,];      {   and   }        or

    (B) not received information that confirms the voter's residence; and  


3.    Page 3, Lines 66 through 68 :    

             66          (iv) the voter has failed to vote or appear to vote in [either of the next two] an election
             67      during the period beginning on the date of the notice
  described in Section 20A-2-306       and ending on the day after the date of the

             68      second regular general [elections following] election occurring after the date of the notice;

The motion passed, with Sen. Dayton voting in opposition.

Rep. Powell presented and explained the amended bill.

MOTION:
    Sen. Thatcher moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Jenkins moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. Sen. Dayton adjourned the meeting at 2:42 p.m.
