33 LONG TITLE
34 General Description:
35 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor recognizes the service of
36 Major General Brian L. Tarbet.
37 Highlighted Provisions:
38 This resolution:
39 . recognizes the 39 years of honorable and dedicated service of Major General Brian
40 L. Tarbet to the United States of America, to the state of Utah, and to the men and
41 women who served under his command.

45 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
46 WHEREAS, Major General Brian L. Tarbet has faithfully served his country for 39
47 years;
48 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet served as the Adjutant General of the Utah National
49 Guard during his final 12 years of service;
50 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet was responsible for 7,000 soldiers and airmen and
51 their families;
52 WHEREAS, during his career, Major General Tarbet commanded at the platoon,
53 battalion, and brigade levels and as Major General of the Utah National Guard;
54 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet deployed more soldiers and airmen in support of the
55 Global War on Terror, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom than any
56 other Adjutant General in the history of the Utah National Guard;
57 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet commanded the Security Forces of the 2002 Winter
58 Olympics, held just months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks;
59 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet advised four Utah governors on military matters;
60 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet has tirelessly traversed the globe visiting and
61 assessing the welfare of his soldiers and airmen;
62 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet has constantly cultivated relationships of mutual
63 trust and gratitude with Guardmember families and civilian employers;
64 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet's exemplary service to the state of Utah ensured that
65 soldiers and airmen stationed in Utah were trained, resourced, and ready for their missions; and
66 WHEREAS, Major General Tarbet served faithfully, bringing great credit to the state of
67 Utah in every venue from the halls of the Pentagon to the fields of Afghanistan:
68 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
69 Governor concurring therein, recognize the 39 years of honorable and dedicated service of
70 Major General Brian L. Tarbet to the United States of America, to the citizens of the state of
71 Utah, and to the men and women who served under his command.
72 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Major
73 General Brian L. Tarbet.
