9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor designates the week of
11 June 23-29, 2013, as Workplace Safety Week in the state of Utah.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 . designates the week of June 23-29, 2013, as Workplace Safety Week in the state of
15 Utah; and
16 . urges the citizens of Utah to participate in activities that recognize the importance of
17 safety in the workplace.
18 Special Clauses:

21 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
22 WHEREAS, increasing education regarding safety in the workplace can save lives and
23 help prevent serious injuries;
24 WHEREAS, the Associated General Contractors of Utah, the Utah Labor Commission,
25 the Workers' Compensation Fund, and other businesses and community leaders are partnering
26 to increase public awareness of safety in the workplace;
27 WHEREAS, from June 23-29, 2013, these organizations will be sponsoring safety fairs,
28 seminars, essay contests, and many other activities to highlight the lifesaving importance of
29 safety in the workplace;
30 WHEREAS, demonstrations and discussions of workplace safety programs will also
31 take place so that Utah's citizens can better understand workplace safety;
32 WHEREAS, student scholarships will be awarded as part of the emphasis on workplace
33 safety; and
34 WHEREAS, Utahns are encouraged to participate in these activities and to help make
35 their workplaces safer:
36 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
37 Governor concurring therein, designates the week of June 23-29, 2013, as Workplace Safety
38 Week in the state of Utah.
39 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor urge the citizens
40 of the state of Utah to participate in activities during that week, sponsored by the Associated
41 General Contractors, the Utah Labor Commission, the Workers' Compensation Fund, and other
42 business and community leaders, that recognize the importance of safety in the workplace.
43 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to each of Utah's
44 Chambers of Commerce, the Utah Labor Commission, the Associated General Contractors, and
45 the Workers' Compensation Fund.
