Chair Reid called the meeting to order at 4:05 pm.

 

S.B. 258          Rename Utah State University - College of Eastern Utah (Sen. D. Hinkins)


Sen. Hinkins introduced and explained the bill.


Spoke in favor of the bill:      Dr. Joe Peterson, Chancellor, Utah State University - College of                                                             Eastern Utah

 

MOTION:     Sen. Jones moved to pass S.B. 258 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously, with Sen. Stevenson and Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.


MOTION:     Sen. Jones moved to place S.B. 258 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed                         unanimously, with Sen. Stevenson and Sen. Stephenson absent for the vote.

 

S.B. 260          Reading Assessment Amendments (Sen. S. Urquhart)


Sen. Urquhart introduced and explained the bill.


MOTION:     Sen. Urquhart moved to replace S.B. 260 with 1st Sub. S.B. 260. The motion                         passed unanimously, with Sen. Stevenson and Sen. Stephenson absent for the                         vote.

Sen. Stevenson introduced and explained the bill.


MOTION:     Sen. Stevenson moved to replace S.B. 82 with 1st Sub. S.B. 82. The motion                         passed unanimously, with Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

MOTION:     Sen. Madsen moved to pass S.B. 257 out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Jones voting in opposition and Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 201         State Board of Education Leadership Amendments (Rep. S. Eliason) (Sen. A. Osmond)


Rep. Eliason introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION:     Sen. Osmond moved to pass H.B. 201 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Sen. Osmond moved to place H.B. 201 on the Consent Calendar. The motion                        passed unanimously, with Sen. Stevenson absent for the vote.
