1. Call to Order and Approval of November 14, 2001 Minutes



Chair Saunders called the meeting to order at 2:18 p.m. and welcomed the members of the committee.



MOTION: It was duly moved to approve the minutes of the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 204 Responsibility of Attorney General to Represent Division of Child and Family Services (Rep. M. Throckmorton)



Representative Throckmorton explained the bill to the committee.



Kirk Torgensen, Attorney General's Office, and Mark Shurtleff, Attorney General, spoke in opposition to the bill.



Paul Hess, Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, answered questions of committee members.



Speaking in support of the bill was Gayle Ruzicka, Utah Eagle Forum.



MOTION: Representative Lockhart moved to recommend the bill to the Rules committee to be placed on the Third Reading Calendar. The motion passed in both houses with Senator Allen and Representatives Beck, Jones, Litvack, and Moss voting no.



MOTION TO ADJOURN AND TIME OF ADJOURNMENT.



MOTION: Representative Lockhart moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
