Chair Saunders called the meeting to order at 9:09 a.m.
MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2002 and January 10, 2002 committee meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Arent, Rep. Donnelson, Rep. Harper, Rep. Litvack, Rep. Lockhart, Rep. Ray, Rep. Thompson, and Rep. Way absent for the vote.
2. Bills Considered
S.B. 51 Nurse Practice Act Amendments (P. Julander)
Sen. Julander explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Ms.Laura Poe, Assistant Director, Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing.
Ms. Rebecca Richards, Utah Nurses Association, spoke in support of the bill.
MOTION: Sen. Allen moved to recommend the bill to the Senate Rules Committee to be placed on the second reading calendar. The motion passed in both houses with Rep. Arent, Rep. Harper, Rep. Lockhart, Rep. Seitz, and Rep. Way absent for the vote.
H.B. 25 Adult Protective Services Amendments (P. Jones)
Rep. Jones presented the bill to the committee and introduced a substitute to the bill.
MOTION: Rep. Jones moved that 1st Substitute H.B. 25 replace H.B. 25. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Arent, Rep. Harper, Rep. Lockhart, Rep. Seitz, and Rep. Way absent for the vote.
