This bill adds significantly to court clerk processing due to filing and notarization of affidavits that are now routinely done by contracted legal defender services. Cost for the processing of over 32,000 new filings is estimates at $67,100, including postage expense and notice preparation time. If only 2.5 percent of the cases result in additional hearings relative to compensation in noncontract cases, there would be an additional $103,600 in hearing costs.
