AMENDED BILL
Currently, 8.25 percent of surcharges on criminal fines are transferred to the General Fund (approximately $1.8 million). This bill reduces that transfer to 3.75 percent by moving 4.5 percent to a new restricted account for training purposes. Currently, the General Fund apppropriation for the training costs is approximately $750,000. This General Fund appropriation could be eliminated with the new funding as described above.
