A conservative estimate would include thirty percent of the sound walls on the interstate system which would qualify to be removed under provisions of this bill. It is estimated to cost $60 per lineal foot to remove an estimated 137,280 feet of sound walls. Total cost of removal is estimated to be $2,471,000 from the Transportation Fund in FY 2001.
