The provisions of this bill will increase revenue to the Transportation Restricted - Unisured Motorist Identification Restricted Account and shifts some revenue from the State Transportation Fund to this Transportation Restricted Account. The bill doubles the vehicle registration reinstatement fee. Ongoing appropriations to operate the program are made from the Transportation Restricted - Unisured Motorist Identification Restricted Account. For FY 2001, appropriations of $51,600 to the Department of Public Safety and 283,800 (including $150,000 in one-time costs) to the State Tax Commission will be needed, for a total of $335,400. A one-time FY 2000 supplemental appropriation of $20,000 to the Tax Commission is needed to implement the program by the effective date of July 1, 2000.
