The increased penalties are estimated to produce 30 new trials per year (in lieu of pleas) at a cost to the courts of $2,200. County prosecution and defense costs will also increase but the nature and scope of those costs cannot be estimated at this time. Additional man-months in prison would begin to be felt in the second year and are estimated at $11,700.
