HB0181S01 - Education Reform

State Impact:
Provisions of the bill appropriate $7,500,000 in one-time General Fund revenue to support the Basic Skills Education Stipend Program outlined in the bill. The State Board of Education may use up to $200,000 of this revenue for program administration. The bill further provides for an appropriation of $12,500,000 in one-time Uniform School Fund revenue to support the Grades 4-6 Mathematics Improvement program outlined in the bill.

Individual and Business Impact:
Public school teachers may benefit by qualifying for a salary bonus outlined in the provisions of this bill. Further, public or private "basic skills educators" may benefit from the stipends received by students seeking supplemental instruction to pass the Utah Basic Skills Competency Test.
