State Impact:
Enactment of this bill could reduce the General Fund by $144,200 in FY 2009 and by $1,144,000 in FY 2010. The bill also appropriates $3,100,000 annually for tobacco prevention activities. The General Fund reduction includes both a sales tax decrease and a cigarette tax increase.

Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs and/or benefits for local governments. There would be an increase of 50 cents a pack for individuals buying cigarettes. There is also a potential reduction is sales tax paid by individuals and businesses as a result of this bill.
