SB0284S01 - Concurrent Enrollment Amendments
State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Higher education institutions may generate additional tuition revenue based on their participation in the concurrent enrollment program and the amount of partial tuition charged for each credit hour earned by high school students. According to the Utah State Office of Education, 26,183 high school students participated in concurrent enrollment earning a total of 185,881 credit hours. Based on the partial tuition schedule outlined in the bill, the Utah State Office of Education estimates that higher education institutions may generate $2,206,800 in tuition revenue.

Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable costs for local governments.
Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
High school students that want to receive credit from a higher education institution for a concurrent enrollment course may be required to pay a partial tuition of up to $30 per credit hour as outlined in the bill. Currently students enrolled in concurrent enrollment receive credit from an institution of higher education without paying tuition.
