HB0206S02 - Curriculum Options for Secondary School Students

State Government (UCA 36-12-13(2)(b)):
Enactment of this bill appropriates an additional 1,373 Weighted Pupil Units to the Grades 1-12 program in the Minimum School Program beginning in FY 2013. The total cost of these additional WPUs is estimated at $3,910,300. The WPU Value of $2,848 established in S.B. 2, Public Education Budget Amendments (2012 General Session) is reduced to $2,842 to cover the associated cost of additional WPUs. Funding for all programs valued at $2,848 in S.B. 2, except for the Grades 1-12 program, is reduced due to the lower WPU Value.

Local Governments (UCA 36-12-13(2)(c)):
Local education agencies that have students that attend classroom instruction at a regional campus of the Utah College of Applied Technology may continue to count that student in Average Daily Membership, and as a result, receive state funding through the Minimum School Program. The distribution of funding to local education agencies through the Minimum School Program may increase based the participation of students in UCAT instruction.

Direct Expenditures by Utah Residents and Businesses (UCA 36-12-13(2)(d)):
Enactment of this bill likely will not result in direct, measurable expenditures by Utah residents or businesses.
