Agency: Restricted Revenue - EOCJ Function The DNA Specimen Account was created to provide funding for the accessioning, storage, transport, analysis and maintenance of the CODIS (Combined DNA Indexing System) DNA Database. Permissible expenses included: offender kits, office supplies, computer upgrades, reagents/kits, chemicals, personnel, outsourcing contracts, software development etc. Funding is also used for the analysis of forensic specimens from crime scenes. Funding from this account is allocated for use by the Courts, and the Department of Public Safety. Statutory Authority UCA 53-10-407 outlines the creation of the DNA Specimen Restricted Account for collecting and analyzing DNA specimens of certain offenders. Intent Language
