Statewide Data Alliance

Encourage students to use already available resources from employment companies; tell them labor market changes quickly, so they need to continually improve their human capital. Education agencies using it to improve job prospects would shift to what's already out there. UEN requested $645,000 ongoing during the 2014GS but were appropriated $345,000 ongoing and $300,000 one-time in 2014GS SB 34. They are requesting the $300,000 one-time be made ongoing.
Appropriation Overview

During the 2015 General Session, the Legislature appropriated for Fiscal Year 2016, $645,000 from all sources for Statewide Data Alliance. This is a 0 percent change from Fiscal Year 2015 revised estimated amounts from all sources. The total includes $645,000 from the General/Education Funds, a change of 0 percent from revised Fiscal Year 2015 estimates.

The Utah Data Alliance is a multi-agency partnership organized to:

  • Develop and maintain a system that tracks individuals across time, including from preschool to K12 to postsecondary education, and finally to income earned while in the workforce; and
  • Conduct research on the usefulness of various education programs.

Members of the Statewide Data Alliance include the Utah State Office of Education, the Utah System of Higher Education, the Utah Education Policy Center, the Utah Department of Workforce Services, the Utah Education Network, and the Utah College of Applied Technology.
