Mar 12, 2014 Representative Joel Briscoe State Capitol , Suite 350 350 North State Street Salt Lake City, UT 84114 Dear Representative Briscoe, Utah remains the only state in the west where cockfighting is still a misdemeanor. Those involved in this bloodsport seek out states with weak penalties to set up their operations, making Utah a magnet for cockfighting and the violent crimes associated with it. SB 112, the Game Fowl Fighting Amendments bill, would strengthen our state's laws by making cockfighting a Class A misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony for repeat offenders. I am a supporter of animal rights and I am saddened by the cruel actions that any animal must endure. Please vote in support of SB 112 as cockfighting has to be one of the most painful and tormenting ways to die. Thank you for listening.
