I request your support in defending Utah's right to uphold Amendment 3.

Marriage is not simply a contract of love, but of responsibility to the future generations that will occupy this land.  Marriage, is defined as "the formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife."  Any other unions cannot produce a continuance of a productive society that will sustain life for years to come.

Please review the thoughts of the Sutherland Institute and their findings regarding marriage.

"
An equally important benefit comes from the complementarity between a man and a woman – combined, men, women and children are healthier, more prosperous, better educated, happier, more communal and transcendent, and physically safer. In other words, the natural family promotes limited government; any other “family” formation increases government dependency."

As I understand it, the benefit of Judge Shelby overturning our State Law was for financial equality.  Financial issues should be a separate item and not given the same benefit of traditional married couples without the responsibility.  When States do not have the right to uphold their laws which were voted on by their citizens we are living under a communistic rule.

Please vote for a bright future for all children.  CHILDREN HAVE A RIGHT TO A MOTHER AND A FATHER.

Sincerely,
Betty Palmer
