I'm writing to ask you to support HB 96. High-quality preschool is a proven strategy that changes the odds for at-risk children who lack opportunity. I was very fortunate to grow up in a house where education and reading was important from a very early age, but I know that thousands of kids throughout Utah are not that lucky. This bill will allow thousands of children to participate in high quality preschool, giving them the chance to enter kindergarten ready to learn saving taxpayers MILLIONS in remedial programs throughout the 13 years of public schooling. As you know, this isn't forcing parents to enter programs, rather giving those who want to help their kids, do so. PLEASE VOTE YES and do the right thing for our state and our children. HB96 will offer an innovative way to partner with the private sector, increase the number of at-risk students who can access high-quality preschool programs, and ensure that children are ready to learn.
