Dear Members,Happy Holidays! We wanted to give you an update on The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper. Here are a few things that have happened and a few things to look forward to in 2014: Our shark tank is now filled! It took 10 hours to fill the 300,000 gallon tank. We filled it with a 200 foot fire hose that came in from a fire hydrant outside the building. The tank will house 50 different species and over 2,000 animals including: nurse sharks, zebra sharks, black tip, white tip, and more! The Giants tank has also been filled, in the Journey to South America Exhibit. The new tank is eight times larger than the tank in Sandy and took three hours to fill. We also received three semi-trailers of South American botanicals for the exhibit. Now that many of our tanks are full, we are moving on to the next step. The process of getting these new homes ready for their occupants can be pretty daunting. We will be making our own salt water, making sure temperatures and other water quality parameters are just right to ensure the highest standard and safety for all of our animals. As soon as the conditions are perfect, we will begin bringing over the thousands of animals. We are getting very close, and we will make a big announcement as soon as we have an opening date. Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates. Thanks for following The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. We wish you a safe and happy New Year! Purchase your membership online today!
