Dear Senator, As your constituent and a supporter of statewide nondiscrimination protection amendments which include sexual orientation and gender identity, I believe lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people should never be fired from their jobs or evicted from their homes solely for being LGBT. I believe that employment and housing decisions should be based on the ability to do the job, and pay the rent. Gay and Transgender Utahns are hardworking, law abiding people, who pay their taxes. We should all have the same opportunities to earn a living, shelter our families and contribute to society. I am writing to urge you to VOTE IN FAVOR of statewide nondiscrimination protection amendments that include sexual orientation and gender identity which would prohibit discrimination in housing and employment based solely on sexual orientation and gender identity. Large businesses in Utah see this patchwork of protections as a barrier to continued economic growth and competitive relevance within their respective industries.
