To my Representative and my Senator,

I have a constituent request for some legislation.  (And it has nothing to do with Autism! Can you believe it?)

My two vehicles' registration need to be renewed each July and August.  It would make my life easier if I could renew them at a different time of year.  But the people at the DMV said that the only way it is possible to have a different renewal date is to leave the car parked and not drive it until the month I want it to begin again.  She said that was due to the law and it would require legislation to change it.

I understand there are several considerations and that people at the DMV may have other concerns, but could one of you guys look into carrying legislation or referring this idea to a colleague who's more into this line of work?

I would like for all citizens to be able to change which month their vehicle registrations are due.  This isn't meant to be able to renew only every 13 or 14 months for the price of 12.  I have no problem if an appropriate fee is charged for the change.  But choices are a good thing.

Thanks.
