Good afternoon,

Fox 13 News in Salt Lake City ran a long story last night about the federal leasing ban and drilling moratorium. It runs 12 minutes long, and is about as comprehensive a look at the issue as we've seen in a television piece about the issue. We were pleased to be included in the piece and offer comment and context for the real impacts of the moratorium. You can find that piece online here:

The open-ended leasing moratorium and the 60-day drilling ban are things that appear simple on the surface, but in reality are very complex. This piece does an insightful job of discussing the ripple effects an extended moratorium would have in places like Vernal, provides context for why a transition to renewable energy cannot happen on a dime, and offers clarity on issues like impacts to state budgets, jobs, local economies, and our utility bills.

As oil and gas workers and advocates, we understand the challenge of trying to tell our story in a concise and meaningful way. This is why we're grateful for pieces like this that are constructed with care, nuance, and depth. We encourage you to share this through your networks and facilitate conversations with those in your circle about oil and gas development and its importance to Utah.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to continuing our work together!

Sincerely,

Utah Petroleum Association
