5    AN ACT RELATING TO SPECIAL DISTRICTS; REQUIRING SUBMISSION OF PUBLIC
6    TRANSIT DISTRICT BUDGETS TO THE GOVERNOR AND LEGISLATURE FOR
7    CERTAIN PURPOSES; AND AUTHORIZING A LOCAL OPTION DIRECT TRANSFER
8    OF PUBLIC TRANSIT SALES AND USE TAXES TO PUBLIC TRANSIT DISTRICTS.
9    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
10    ENACTS:
11         17A-2-1060, Utah Code Annotated 1953
12         59-12-503, Utah Code Annotated 1953
13    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
14        Section 1. Section 17A-2-1060 is enacted to read:
15         17A-2-1060. Budget examination and comment.
16        In addition to the requirements under Title 17A, Chapter 1, Part 5, Submission of Budgets
17    and Audit Reports, the district shall submit a copy of its tentative budget at least 30 days before
18    the board approves a final budget to the governor and the Legislature for examination and
19    comment.
20        Section 2. Section 59-12-503 is enacted to read:
21         59-12-503. Public transit taxes -- Local option direct transfer.
22        A county or municipality may elect, in writing, to have the portion of the monthly funds
23    transfer that is collected as a public transit sales and use tax under Sections 59-12-501 and
24    59-12-502 to be transferred directly to a designated public transit district, subject to the same
25    charge as described under Section 59-12-206.
