6 AN ACT RELATING TO COUNTIES; AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY LEGISLATIVE BODY
7 TO COMPENSATE MEMBERS OF THE MERIT SYSTEM COMMISSION; AND MAKING
8 TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS.
9 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
10 AMENDS:
11 17-30-3, as last amended by Chapter 67, Laws of Utah 1979
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. Section 17-30-3 is amended to read:
14 17-30-3. Establishment of merit system commission -- Appointment, qualifications,
15 and compensation of members.
16 (1) Each [
17 people or more shall establish a merit system commission consisting of three members appointed
18 by the [
19 commission shall be affiliated with or members of the same political party. Of the original
20 appointees, one member shall be appointed for a term ending February 1 of the first odd-numbered
21 year after the date of [
22 thereafter. Upon the expiration of any of [
23 term of six years. Appointment to fill a vacancy resulting other than from expiration of term shall
24 be for the unexpired portion of the term only. [
