APPROPRIATION FOR STATEWIDE
INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION
1997 GENERAL SESSION

AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; PROVIDING A $500,000
APPROPRIATION TO STRENGTHEN THE INTEGRATION OF ENGINEERING AND
PREENGINEERING PROGRAMS AT THE STATE'S NINE INSTITUTIONS OF
HIGHER EDUCATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
This act enacts uncodified material.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Appropriation.
(1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1997-98, $500,000 to the
State Board of Regents for a one-time appropriation to strengthen the statewide integration of
engineering and preengineering programs at the state's nine institutions of higher education.
(2) The board shall distribute the money as follows:
(a) $140,000 to the University of Utah;
(b) $95,000 to Utah State University;
(c) $65,000 to Weber State University;
(d) $50, 000 to Salt Lake Community College;
(e) $50, 000 to Utah Valley State College;
(f) $25,000 to College of Eastern Utah;
(g) $25,000 to Dixie College;
(h) $25,000 to Snow College; and
(i) $25,000 to Southern Utah University.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act takes effect on July 1, 1997.
