APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING FUNDING

                  AN ACT RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; APPROPRIATING $300,000 FOR FISCAL
                  YEAR 1998-99 TO THE STATE BOARD OF REGENTS FOR ADULT
                  APPRENTICESHIP-RELATED INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS; AND PROVIDING AN
                  EFFECTIVE DATE.
                  This act enacts uncodified material.
                  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
                      Section 1. Appropriation.
                      (1) There is appropriated from the General Fund for fiscal year 1998-99, $300,000 to the
                  State Board of Regents for adult apprenticeship-related instruction programs at the state's nine
                  institutions of higher education to:
                      (a) coordinate essential training programs designed to provide highly skilled workers
                  throughout the state which are needed by the crafts and trades industry and consumers;
                      (b) coordinate the development and distribution of statewide articulated curricula; and
                      (c) coordinate the development and distribution of the articulated curriculum needed in
                  rural locations throughout the state using distance learning delivery systems.
                      (2) The funds shall be distributed based on a formula driven by annualized apprenticeship
                  full-time enrollments.
                      Section 2. Effective date.
                      This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
