5    AN ACT RELATING TO INSURANCE; PERMITTING AN INSURED TO RECEIVE UP TO
6    FIVE OUTPATIENT VISITS FROM A DERMATOLOGIST WITHOUT A REFERRAL
7    FROM A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
8    This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
9    ENACTS:
10         31A-22-623, Utah Code Annotated 1953
11    Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
12        Section 1. Section 31A-22-623 is enacted to read:
13         31a-22-623. Direct access to dermatological services.
14        A disability insurance policy that covers dermatological services:
15        (1) shall permit an insured to directly access and receive at least five outpatient visits per
16    year from a participating provider who is a physician and who specializes in the practice of
17    dermatology without any form of preauthorization, preapproval, or referral from a primary care
18    physician;
19        (2) shall clearly state in literature explaining the policy the access permitted under
20    Subsection (1); and
21        (3) may not impose a higher copayment requirement than that which applies to similar
22    outpatient visits under the policy.
23        Section 2. Effective date.
24        This act takes effect on July 1, 1998.
