The Judiciary Committee reports a favorable recommendation on H.B. 157, JUDICIAL NOMINATING COMMISSION AMENDMENTS, by Representative C. Fox-Finlinson, with the
following amendments:
1. Page 2, lines 7-13: Bracket lines 7 through 13
2. Page 2, line 13: After line 13, insert:
"(2)(a) The commission shall interview an applicant if requested by any commissioner."
3. Page 3, line 8: After "Voting" insert "for nominees"
4. Page 3, line 8: After "in one or" delete "two"
5. Page 3, line 11: After "round" and before the period, insert ", seven votes if the selection process is for an appellate court"
6. Page 3, line 12: After "round" and before the period, insert ", six votes if voting is for an appellate court vacancy"
7. Page 4, line 3: Delete "Unless the commission determines that there are not five qualified applicants," and insert For trial court vacancies,"
8. Page 4, line 4-5: Delete ", but in no event shall fewer than three names be certified"

Page 4, line 4: After "for his selection." and insert " For appellate court vacancies, a list of seven names shall be certified to the governor for his
selection."
