AN ACT RELATING TO CORRECTIONS AND STATE INSTITUTIONS; CREATING A
TRUSTEE STATUS FOR PRISON INMATES.
This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
ENACTS:
64-13-14.6, Utah Code Annotated 1953
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Section 64-13-14.6 is enacted to read:
64-13-14.6. Inmate trustee status.
(1) The department may grant an offender trustee status.
(2) Trustee status may be granted to an inmate who has:
(a) been granted a release date by the Board of Pardons and Parole; and
(b) agreed to the terms and conditions established by the department to participate in
compensatory service or work projects prior to his parole date.
(3) The department shall develop rules governing inmates granted trustee status.
