NOTICE BY SCHOOL TO CUSTODIAL AND
2 NONCUSTODIAL PARENT
3 2001 GENERAL SESSION
4 STATE OF UTAH

6 This act requires a public school to notify the custodial and attempt to notify the
7 noncustodial parent of a student who is injured or becomes ill at the school and requires
8 medical treatment for the injury or illness at a facility not located on the school premises.
9 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
10 ENACTS:
11 53A-11-205, Utah Code Annotated 1953
12 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
13 Section 1. Section 53A-11-205 is enacted to read:
14 53A-11-205. Notification to the parent of an injured or sick child.
15 h [ A ] EXCEPT WHEN THE COURT HAS DIRECTED OTHERWISE , A h public school shall
15a notify the custodial parent and attempt to notify the noncustodial
16 parent of a student who is injured or becomes ill at the school during the regular school day if:
17 (1) the injury or illness requires treatment at a hospital, doctor's office, or other medical
18 facility not located on the school premises; and
19 (2) the school has a current telephone number for the party it is required to notify.
