for fiscal year 2001-02 to the State Board of Education to be distributed to the
             8      State Office of Rehabilitation to purchase assistive technology devices and services. This act
             9      provides an effective date.
             10      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             11      AMENDS:
             12          53A-24-110.7, as last amended by Chapter 308, Laws of Utah 2000
             13      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             14          Section 1. Section 53A-24-110.7 is amended to read:
             15           53A-24-110.7. Appropriation for assistive technology devices and services.
             16          (1) S [ There ] SUBJECT TO FUTURE BUDGET CONSTRAINTS, THERE s is appropriated
             16a      S , AS AN ONGOING APPROPRIATION, s from the Uniform School Fund for fiscal year [2000-01]
             16b      2001-02,
             17      S [ $150,000 and from the General Fund for fiscal year [2000-01] 2001-02, $150,000 ] $75,000 s to the
             17a      State
             18      Board of Education to be distributed to the State Office of Rehabilitation to purchase assistive
             19      technology devices and services in accordance with rules made by the State Board of Education.
             20          (2) The office shall use the appropriation to provide:
             21          (a) assistance to individuals with disabilities in acquiring, customizing, and learning to use
             22      and maintain assistive technology to facilitate their independence; and
             23          (b) support through Independent Living Centers and other similar programs to facilitate
             24      interagency cooperation in providing assistive technology devices and services.
             25          Section 2. Effective date.
             26          This act takes effect on July 1, 2001.
