Mr. Speaker:

    The Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee reports a favorable recommendation on H.B. 340, PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, by Representative D. Hogue, with the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 26:    After " provide that" insert "the agency may consider"

2.    Page 1, Line 26:    Delete "may" and insert "to"

3.    Page 1, Line 27:    After "earned" insert " on or after April 30, 2001,"

4.    Page 2, Line 30:    Delete "four" and insert "two"

5.    Page 2, Line 31:    Delete "six" and insert "two"

6.    Page 2, Line 31:    After Line 31 insert:
        "(5) Expenses incurred by an agency to provide additional compensation under this section may be only from the agency's existing budget."
